WiseTech SEO Toolbox Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026
WiseTech SEO Toolbox is a Chrome extension published by WiseTechList. It is designed to inspect the page you are currently viewing for on-page SEO signals, website technology, visible WordPress plugin traces, and link attributes.
What the extension accesses
WiseTech SEO Toolbox uses temporary access to the active browser tab only after you invoke the extension. It may read information already present on that page, including:
- page title and meta description;
- headings, canonical URL, and robots directives;
- link URLs and
relattributes; - public HTML and resource URLs used to identify website technologies and visible WordPress plugin traces;
- the WordPress Plugins screen when you intentionally run the extension on your own
/wp-admin/plugins.phppage.
This access is used only to generate the analysis shown inside the extension.
Data processing and storage
Analysis is performed locally in your browser.
WiseTech SEO Toolbox does not send the inspected page content, plugin inventory, SEO values, link report, or browsing history to WiseTechList servers.
The extension does not maintain a remote user profile and does not use analytics or advertising trackers inside the extension.
Clipboard access
Clipboard write access is optional. It is requested only when you explicitly click a Copy button, such as Copy Report or Copy Plugins.
The extension does not read your clipboard.
External tools and links
WiseTech SEO Toolbox includes user-initiated links to external services and documentation. For example, you may choose to open:
- Google PageSpeed Insights;
- Google Rich Results Test;
- Internet Archive Wayback Machine;
- WiseTechList Recommended Next Step documentation.
When you click one of these buttons, your current page URL may be included in the destination URL where required for that service to work. These actions occur only after you click the relevant button. The destination service's own privacy policy applies after you leave the extension.
WordPress plugin detection
On public pages, the extension can only identify WordPress plugins that expose reliable front-end traces. This is not a complete inventory of installed plugins.
If you run WiseTech SEO Toolbox while logged in to your own WordPress Admin > Plugins screen, the extension can read the installed plugin table locally to show a more complete list. That list is not uploaded to WiseTechList.
Data sharing and sale
WiseTech SEO Toolbox does not sell user data.
WiseTech SEO Toolbox does not share inspected page data with advertisers, data brokers, or unrelated third parties.
Permissions
The extension uses the minimum permissions needed for its functions:
- activeTab: temporary access to the current page after you invoke the extension;
- scripting: runs the local page analyzer and link highlighter on the active page;
- clipboardWrite (optional): requested only when you use a Copy feature.
The extension does not request persistent access to every website you visit.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the extension's functionality or data practices change. The latest version will be published on WiseTechList.
